What do you do all day?

"So what do you do all day?"  Stay-at-home moms are often faced with this well-meaning question.  I've even been asked this by one of my friends, who seems to forget that I have two businesses, and that's on TOP of managing a household.  That is no minor task, let me tell you!  Anyway, I'm going to humor you, and go ahead and answer the question.  Here is what I do all day.

Well my first priority is my kids.  My teenagers can mostly fend for themselves, but my 2 and a half year old needs all of my attention.  He is a very good boy though, and extremely smart, so he makes it rather easy on me.  I do all the typical things you would imagine, like feeding him, diaper changes, bath time, playing, etc.  If he takes a nap early enough, I can take a shower and relax on the couch for a bit.  If not, then I have to wait for my husband to get home from work.

As mentioned earlier, I have two businesses that keep me plenty busy.  The first is my Avon business.  I'm a Unit Leader and Recruiter with Avon.  So I don't just sell the products, I also train and lead a team of almost 40 representatives, as well as enroll new team members. I've been with Avon for a little over 2 years, and don't plan to stop any time soon! My Avon work ranges from counting brochures to reconciling invoices, which is time-consuming.  It once took me 4 hours to just work on invoices! Thankfully my middle son Kyle helps me with the menial tasks such as labeling and sorting, so that I can tackle the tedious stuff. Hey, he gets paid!

My other business is Bead Creations, my handmade beaded jewelry operation.  I work on customer orders whenever I can squeeze in a moment throughout the day.  Sometimes I have to do it late at night after Jacen is in bed. Same with Avon. I don't get a lot of sleep.

In the way of housework, I admittedly don't get a lot accomplished.  Now daily I do keep the living room straightened up the best I can, and I clean the kitchen and dishes.  As needed, I clean the mirrors and windows, dust, etc.  Kyle vacuums, and husband does laundry and makes most dinners.  I am so grateful to have a husband who cooks.  I don't particularly like to cook, so it's such a huge relief to have him do it for me.

Oh, I'm also the new president of the HOA in my neighborhood.  Yes, I have my hand in too many pots, but no one else stepped up. Plus it was hard for me to pass up, being the community-minded person that I am. At least my husband is doing it with me, he is the vice president.

Lastly, I spend a considerable amount of time on social networking.  Okay, that's just my fancy way of saying I'm on facebook all day, but I do honestly use it for my businesses!  If you're a fan of my Avon or bead pages, then you know that I maintain and keep them updated as much as possible.  I also stay logged into my email all day so that I can stay on top of customer orders or questions from my Avon team.  Even when I'm "relaxing", my mind is still at work. I'm constantly thinking about new marketing ideas and other business strategies.

So that is what I do all day. Some days are kinda quiet, and other days I'm bombarded with emails and text messages.  The bottom line is, it is an absolute blessing to be able to stay at home and be with my kids.  Just because I don't punch a clock doesn't mean that I don't work!

Now I want to hear from other SAHMs!  What do you do all day?  Walk me through a typical day in your household.  People in the workforce, what is your view of stay-at-home mothers?  Leave a comment below!

Its funny bc i have seen this question a lot lately. I am usually running from 6 am till atleast 10 pm most days. I have to help DH get his stuff together with school, deal with his doc apts, meds, and anything else he has a hard time dealing with. Still manage to clean and cook and teach our boys. Each one is very different. I also work for Avon and that entails atleast 1 hr a day some times more sometimes less. We also moved so i am unpacking boxes still or re doing a room. Until someone is a SAHM they never can truely understand. Some days i love it and some i could scream! lol
